Inspired by citizen research and living labs, I wanted to build projects of varying scale to answer technological or societal questions concerning small LMs and LLMs. And so, since 2022, when LLMs first became available to the general public, I explored the various platforms out of curiosity, and then trained myself in how to secure them and use them responsibly.
After four years now, we can see more clearly the impacts that AI has on users' lives, and we are beginning to see precisely its impact on the future, from learning to the job market, and including pentesting. These profound transformations mark, and will continue to mark, a cultural shift in our practices and in our relationship with the world. It is these realities that commit me to this effort of citizen research, so that these changes work to the advantage of people, and to limit the sometimes chaotic risks that some are forecasting.
This last sentence reminds me of an exhibition that showed how much words, the meaning we give them, and above all the story we make them tell, can influence one outcome or another. That is what I want to do here: I want to tell a story with a positive outcome, shared with as many people as possible, thanks to collective intelligence.
It is time to replace Cyberpunk with Solarpunk.
